Swedish Platform for System Innovation Research in Interaction

Macro trends Analysis
A macro trends analysis is underway to track national and international policy development trends and synthesize key issues relevant to Sweden’s systems transformation community. This is done by engaging in relevant policy learning and analytical processes (both within Sweden and in collaboration with international partners), organizing interactive exchanges with different stakeholder groups (focused on those outside of Sweden), and synthesizing key developments, issues, and interests.
Activities in 2024 included:
-
participating in the academic board supporting the preparation and implementation of the OECD conference ‘Mission Forward: Forging New Frontiers in Mission-Oriented Innovation Policies’
-
collaboration with international peers from Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain to explore and synthesize findings on knowledge for policy interfaces
-
exploring small states (Australia, Netherlands, Singapore, Sweden) in geopolitical turbulence and the shaping of new industrial policy (NIP)
Key insights from these efforts—on the evolution of knowledge for policy interfaces and the implications of NIP for the future of missions—will be captured in two working papers or policy briefs and presented in future SIRI seminars and policy dialogues. The findings are expected to inform the design of future interaction activities and support the ongoing development of the research agenda (and research in interaction projects) over time.
Upcoming Peer Learning Event

Improving Capacities for Research in Interaction
Date: September 22-23, 2025
Time: Lunch to Lunch
Location: Sankt Gertrud Konferens, Malmö
Welcome to Malmö on 22-23 September for a lunch-to-lunch peer learning and circuit training event. We offer the opportunity to learn from four internationally-leading experts and exchange with each other on the HOW – the approaches and methods for interactive research on system innovation. A preliminary agenda is available here.
This event targets researchers and other knowledge brokers active within Vinnova’s portfolio of interactive research projects. Others involved in action research – developing and applying new knowledge in interaction with non-research partners are welcome. Places will be limited, and priority will be placed on achieving the broadest representation of interactive research projects and the SIRI community.
Please register your interest in attending the event using this form.
Confirmation of your place will be sent by mid-August (at least a month ahead of the event).
