Assessing and Evaluating the Transformative Potential and Outcomes of TIP

Transformative innovation policy (TIP) requires policy practitioners to rethink their traditional tools and find new methods to determine impact. This project aims to operationalise and gather experience with different evaluation frameworks for TIP together with policy practitioners. 

Seeds of Transformation

As the global community strives to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), rethinking how development aid is approached can play a critical role. The Seeds of Transformation project aims to identify, assess, and support transformative development practices.  

Multi-Level Learning Journeys for Green and Just Regional Transformations

This project aims to leverage regional innovation policy to promote green and just transformations in a multi-level governance context. 

 It explores and develops multilevel learning journeys, conceptualized as knowledge cocreation processes with policy makers, to better combine and coordinate policies at different levels of governance. 

Co-constructing Indicators for Transformative Change in Urban Climate Transitions

This project aims to enhance the visibility and understanding of ongoing climate transition processes in cities and to continuously monitor the impact of mission-oriented policies and programs. The goal is to co-create sets of meaningful and actionable indicators for two municipalities in a collaboration between researchers and stakeholders.

Academic Policy Support of Social innovation for Sustainable Transition

​Recognising the importance of social innovation—defined as the development and establishment of novel social practices, relationships, or structures aimed at social goals— in transforming systems, this project seeks to redefine and redesign the role of academia in sustainable transitions.

Development of Sustainability Indicators to Drive Innovation for Energy Transition (DIET)
in Värmland

Amidst the ongoing energy and climate crisis, ensuring a clean, plentiful and sustainable energy supply is critical. The objective of DIET is to co-develop targets and indicators – together with political actors and governing bodies - to drive and monitor innovation in the energy sector in Värmland County, Sweden.

Policy for a Redesigned Economy

Linear economy principles continue to dominate business logic—despite mounting environmental costs. This project explores leverage points for transformative innovation policy to help redesign the economy for a sustainable future.

Navigating Sustainable Healthcare Transformations: Directionality, Deep System Change, and Docking

This project supports the transformation of the healthcare system in West Sweden in response to persistent challenges such as rising costs, demographic shifts, and the ambition to deliver close, equal, and sustainable care.

Creating Conditions for
Cross-Sector Crime Prevention Collaboration 

This project aims to investigate how business actors (i.e. companies, investors, financiers) can contribute at regional and local levels to creating conditions that prevent children and young people from being at risk of, or engaging in, serious criminal activity.

Climate Transitions in Collaboration

This research project aims to assess and strengthen the City of Malmö's strategic climate transition by establishing a knowledge alliance between Malmö University, the City of Malmö’s Environmental Department, and the association HÅLLPUNKT.

Coordinating Incumbent-Startup Partnerships for TIP in Collaborative Innovation Arenas

Transformative system change requires new forms of collaboration between established firms and startups. This project investigates how collaborative innovation arenas can create the conditions for more effective coordination between these actors—supporting the implementation of Transformative Innovation Policy (TIP) and accelerating sustainability transitions.

Transformative Business Models for Collaborative System Transition

Despite significant investments and efforts at EU, national, and local levels to address societal challenges, the desired results and impacts have not yet been achieved. This project aims to explore and develop collaborative business models of the future that accelerate and support transformation and societal change.

Property Owners Collaborate to Preserve Property Values as Sweden Adapts (PoCoClim)

PoCoClim aims to accelerate the implementation of climate adaptation measures for properties in Sweden. The project envisions a future of climate-resilient properties aligned with EU regulations. To support this goal, the team is building a platform that places property owners at the center, enabling the development of a shared roadmap for adaptation.
